A Yard Transformed

Hello
My name is Tracy Kavanaugh, and I am a nature photographer, naturalist, and soon-to-be author. I have loved nature for as long as I can remember and have always tried to be mindful of protecting the environment as I go about my life.
Seven years ago, I attended a talk by Douglas Tallamy, an entomologist at the University of Delaware and the author of several books promoting the importance of native plants. He spoke about the critical role native landscapes play in maintaining healthy insect, bird, and other wildlife populations, and when I realized how easy it could be to make a positive impact on the environment, I was hooked—and I haven’t looked back.
Since that talk, I have been transforming my own yard and encouraging others to do the same through the Glastonbury Pollinator Pathway group, which I helped co-found.
Now I'm excited to share the journey of enhancing my yard for insects and other wildlife in book form, allowing me to reach even more people. I am titling the book A Yard Transformed, and I hope that seeing how simple it has been to create a native landscape in my yard—and what joy it has brought me —will inspire many of you to make changes in your yards as well. The more small changes we make to our yards, the more they add up to big changes for the entire natural world.
